This course introduces the speech-language certificate program and Speech Audiology Canada guidelines for Speech Language Pathologists (SLP) and Speech Language Assistants (SLA). Students become familiar with the roles and responsibilities of SLPs, SLAs, and other professionals in childcare programs and schools. Students explore mainstream and community views on child development with particular emphasis on speech and language development. Contemporary issues that impact speech and language acquisition today are discussed.
