This course is a survey of major sociological theories on criminal and deviant behaviour, with emphasis on Aboriginal and critical perspectives. Sociological theories will be situated in their historical, social and political contexts and will be critiqued by contrasting their underlying assumptions, their strengths/weaknesses, and their research and practical applications.
