This course is one of the required courses for the Bachelors of Social Work Aboriginal Healthcare Specialization. The intention of this course is to build capacity for students in their work with Aboriginal people in healthcare. Students will gain advanced knowledge and skills specifically relevant to Aboriginal history and health. An understanding of colonization and implications to health will be explored as well as an analysis of the relationship between social, political, economic issues and health and wellness. Students will be introduced to linkages between government policy and its impact on Aboriginal wellness.
