This is one of the required courses for the Aboriginal healthcare specialization. This course is intended to prepare students for practice within a healthcare setting. The course content will examine the role of social work in healthcare, methods of intervention and health promotion, assessments, treatment interventions, discharge planning, and documentation. The class will build skills through the analysis of theory, policy, ethics and social justice issues within a healthcare setting. Students will be encouraged to critically analyze social determinants of health and their influence on marginalized groups.
