This course provides an introduction to the practice of social work in the field of mental health. Students will critically examine historical and contemporary theoretical perspectives on mental illness, Canadian mental health law and policy, cultural and diversity aspects, classification and treatment, ethical issues and an exploration of selected mental health issues.
