This course provides an introduction to working with and on behalf of older people from an anti-oppression and inter-disciplinary perspective. We will examine age in relation to other identity factors, such as 'race', ethnicity, class, gender, (dis)ability, faith, sexual orientation, and marital status. The course is designed to expose students to issues affecting older adults both locally and globally; to critically examine beliefs and attitudes related to aging and older people- our own and those of others; and to develop a framework for anti-oppression practicing with older people.
