This course emphasizes basic crisis communication techniques, allowing for hands-on practice opportunities, and will provide the participants with valuable communication skills to be used for individuals and groups in crisis. This will include building an awareness and respect for the cultural protocols within different communities. A focus will be placed upon the SAFER-R Model of Psychological Crisis Intervention (Stabilize, Acknowledge, Facilitate, Encourage, Recovery, and Referral) from an Indigenous perspective.
