This course will examine significant Indigenous texts from a range of genres and traditions, and will focus on specific themes such as oral tradition, the experience of Indigenous women, colonialism/decolonization, and the literature of resistance. A selection of diverse literary and cultural texts will engage in both critical theory and Indigenous thought and practice in nuanced and creative ways, from short stories and poetry, to films and art installations. This will include examinations of historical and contemporary texts, tensions, and dialogues, which is intended to foster an understanding of the broader social, political, and historical contexts from which these critical and theoretical productions emerge. 2026/01/12-2026/04/20 Lecture Monday 09:00AM - 12:00PM, Burnaby Main Building, Room 102
