This program was developed to meet the needs of employers and other industry stakeholders and prepares learners for entry level positions as apprentice welders in most sectors of the economy such as manufacturing, construction, transportation, resource extraction, and resource development. A welder is a person who has training in and is capable of welding ferrous and nonferrous metals in all positions, on both plate and/or pipe, using various welding processes. Practical instruction by demonstration and student participation will be integrated with classroom sessions. Safe working practices will be integrated into the program and will be reinforced throughout the apprenticeship. Students' ability will be evaluated through a combination of written examinations, practical assessments, and observations.
