2. Ask Away

AskAway 

A library chat service through which learners can ask a question and receive a real-time response from library staff. Communication occurs via live chat and offers help that is similar to help offered at library reference desks.  Ask Away can help with: research for your assignments, brainstorming keywords, accessing print and electronic materials, evaluating sources, navigating databases, citing sources and other library-related topics.
To access ASK AWAY Go to the NVIT.ca , go to the Student Services Tab, Go to Library under that tab.  It will take you directly to the ASK AWAY page.

How to Access Databases from Home


EBSCO Discovery Service (main.eds)

This is used if you want to search NVIT's catalog and the EBSCO databases at the same time.  Note that this may have problems on slower connections.

4. NVIT E-Books

Accessing NVIT E-Books 

To access NVIT's e-book collection, first connect to EBSCOhost using this link:

Once connected, select "Select/Deselect All" twice to clear your selected databases, then scroll down and select any of the following databases:

                - eBook Collection (EBSCOhost)

                - eBook Academic Collection (EBSCOhost)

                - eBook Nursing Collection

 

After you've selected the collection(s) you want to search, click "Continue" and search away!

An annotated bibliography is a list of citations to books, articles, and documents. Each citation is followed by a brief descriptive and evaluative paragraph, the annotation.

13. Four Basic Types of Essays

An essay is a short formal piece of writing dealing with a single subject It is typically written to try to persuade the reader using selected research evidence. In general, an academic essay has three parts:

  1. An introduction that gives the reader an idea of what they are about to learn and presents an argument in the form of a thesis statement
  2. body, or middle section, that provides evidence used to prove and persuade the reader to accept the writer's particular point of view
  3. conclusion that summarizes the content and findings of the essay
