This course will center on the renewal and innovations of diverse Aboriginal philosophies, values, beliefs and practices within a contemporary social work context. Students will learn the skills and knowledge to understand and discuss social work approaches for addressing prevalent social issues and inequalities that impact Aboriginal peoples, including Historic Trauma Response (HTR), internalized/societal oppression, racism, cultural loss, addictions, poverty, etc. This course will explore both Aboriginal healing approaches and relevant mainstream intervention strategies that will assist students to become more culturally responsive social workers. 2019/09/05-2019/12/12 Lecture Thursday 01:30PM - 04:30PM, 4155 Belshaw, Room U031
